I checked in last weekend expecting the classic charm the Claridge advertises, but what I got felt more like a patience boot camp.
Arrival and Check-In
The lobby should set the tone for any hotel, but here it just set off alarms. Floors and staircases needed a mop and some love. The check-in line crawled for a full hour with only two front-desk staff hustling to serve an entire crowd. They did their best, yet management clearly dropped the ball on staffing.
Elevators
Bring a snack for the ride—well, the wait. With just one or two elevators actually operating, it took fifteen minutes each time I needed to move between floors. In a building this size, that is beyond inconvenient; it is unacceptable.
Room
Credit where it is due: my room was clean, comfortable, and matched the 3.5-star promise. Housekeeping is doing the heavy lifting for this property’s reputation.
Overall Experience
Everything outside the guest room felt like a two-star reality. Dirty common areas, endless lines, and elevator roulette do not inspire confidence. The only ways my stay could have been worse would be spotting live rodents or witnessing a mugging in the lobby—thankfully, neither happened.
Bottom Line
Unless management tackles basic cleanliness, staffing, and elevator maintenance, steer clear. Atlantic City has plenty of alternatives that will respect your time and sanity.
