We booked two King Harbour View Rooms for 2 nights (December 28 & 29th). The rooms were next to each other as we requested & nice. Nothing special, but they were clean, comfortable beds & street noise was mitigated by our rooms upper floor location. Check in was surprisingly complicated We had booked via Expedia, not directly, which may have accounted for the 20 minute delay/confusion. The first night of our stay, we were excited to visit the roof top bar around 9:00pm only to discover it was fully booked & no more patrons permitted so that was kinda disappointing. First morning we arrived at 9:00am for the 'buffet breakfast' that was included in our stay. The Lobby & Restaurant area overlap and there were guests everywhere.. any place there was floor space, someone was sitting or standing. It was chaotic. After 25 minutes we gave up and went across the street to a cafe for our breakfast. We requested a reservation (for our second night) for the roof top bar & were told Reception would leave a message confirming. No one called or delivered any message. We asked about this only to find out they had confirmed us two days AFTER we were due to check out & depart Auckland. Huh? Second morning buffet was a repeat. The dining staff seemed overwhelmed and doing their best so it's not their fault. Icing on the cake; they charged us $309.00 for parking (we think). We stay in AKL each month but NEVER AGAIN at this hotel!
