We stayed at Dusit Thani from October 10–16, and while the hotel itself is beautiful and our first impression was positive, our overall experience turned into one of the most disappointing stays we’ve ever had in Bangkok.
We arrived early, and to the hotel’s credit, our room was ready before check-in time, a lovely start that we really appreciated. Unfortunately, things went downhill soon after. We ordered chicken Pad Thai and French fries via room service. The fries were good, but the Pad Thai tasted off, it didn’t seem fresh and had a strange smell. We were hungry, so we ate a little and left the rest.
By the next morning, both of us woke up with upset stomachs that lasted throughout the day. It became so uncomfortable that we eventually informed the hotel staff, expecting at least some concern or action. Sadly, the response was very disappointing. All we received was a pot of chamomile tea and some water, no investigation so far as we were promised and certainly no offer of a refund for the contaminated food.
We’ve traveled to Bangkok six times and have always been treated with exceptional hospitality at other hotels, even when small issues occurred. Dusit Thani, however, showed no real care or responsibility for their guests’ wellbeing.
To make matters worse, we had an early flight the next morning and had to travel while still unwell, a very uncomfortable experience.
A hotel of this standard should handle food safety and guest care far more seriously.
