"Absolutely would not recommend. I arrived late at night with a confirmed booking and was then told over WhatsApp that I needed to send an extra £50 deposit plus around £40 in fees before they would even let me into the property. None of this was clearly stated on the booking site beforehand.
What made it worse was that they refused to let me come inside and pay there. As a solo female traveller, being left outside at night in the cold being asked to transfer money over WhatsApp felt extremely...

"The Rubens is a fantastic hotel. We only stayed one night, but will definitely stay there upon return to London. The location cannot be beat, only a block or two from Buckingham Palace. The staff absolutely could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They really were fantastic!!
The room was comfortable. We had a view of the Royal Mews. Breakfast was amazing. I really cannot say enough nice things about the hotel. Highly recommend!"

"Although our room was spartan in decoration, the staff were exceedingly friendly, kind, and accommodating. I would have liked a bit more storage space and two bottles of water rather than one. The rooms were made up quickly. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. The bar had a tremendous selection and a knowledgeable bartender. Also, the food was very tasty. The concierge was a miracle worker. I recommend staying at this hotel."

"The staff was really nice and I love the fact that the entrance needed the card especially late at night for safety reasons. I loved the vibe of the place and it felt like I was in space. I do love the disco setting in the nest but I don’t recommend turning it on when you’re drunk lol. Overall so close especially if you’re going to and from LGW or LHR, I found myself wandering around and hitting major landmarks within a 15 min walk so it’s just overall great"
