"This pub was a great find, lovely staff, great breakfast, parking easy and free. The history was amazing. The Gaskell tower is a must. We stayed in a heatwave , the room was warmer than expected, and we should have asked for a fan. The only slight problem, not the pubs fault, it is on the direct flight path for Manchester airport, they did stop flying between the hours of 11.30pm-6.00 am!!"

"Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. The only down sude was the loss of my credidit card - was is handed in to you?? Dennis Cole"

"Ware gastvrijheid schuilt niet in grootse gebaren, maar in de kleine attenties die een verblijf onvergetelijk maken. Mijn overnachting in The Bear’s Paw was voortreffelijk. Een warm onthaal, een vlotte check-in en een verrassend mooie, koele kamer op de bovenste verdieping — een zegen bij 30 graden dankzij de airco. Hoewel er geen televisie was om de WK-wedstrijden te volgen, zag het personeel mij op mijn telefoon meekijken en plaatste zonder dat ik erom vroeg een laptop voor mij. Een klein...
