" Our stay was for 4 nights & overall our stay was good. Night 1 & 2 the centrally controlled balcony light was turned off by 10pm. Night 3 it wasn’t turned off until 3am. Night 4, I called reception at midnight & asked for the light to be turned off. Was told ‘Yes’. Never happened, it went off at 3am. The volume was showing maximum however you could barely hear it, especially with the live music from the BSB stage next to the hotel. A staff member brought a specific remote for the tv & adjusted...

"it was only a smoking room available with a queenbed and it smelled sooo ugly that we needed to change to a smaller room with two single bed. the breakfast was almost empty, they didn’t refill and some guest didn’t got any food. (still 1 hour before finish) it’s a disappointing experience but the hotel itself could be not bad if they treat everything a bit better and with more heart."

"I choose Astara because of the location. The hotel is located at Balikpapan Super Block (BSB) where you can find various restaurants, malls, mini markets, hypermarkets, etc. The hotel room is small compared to the same rate hotel in the BSB area but the types of furniture are quite modern. Room service needs more to pay attention to clean around the bed area where in some cases I found dust and small spider web residual on it."

"The staff are so friendly, polite and helpful. I had arranged a pick up but my flight was delayed by over an hour. I managed to let them know and when I arrived at the airport the lovely young man from the hotel was there waiting for me. They let me change my room as the first one was near the lift and due to being a light sleeper moved me to a room further away which was perfect. The room was clean and the bed super comfy. If I ever travel back here would definitely stay again 😊"

Plumbing needs a complete overhaul…most importantly. Wifi is absolutely terrible. The rest is okay and can wait for the others to get fixed for now. An upgrade on the rooms looks way past due. Again, the staff is excellent and does the best it can with what it has to work with."
