"The Sands is an older place, maybe built in the 60's? They did a light renovation a few years ago, so it is nice. But the best thing about the Sands is the view. They provide a nice little balcony, big enough for a small table and chairs, where you can fade away while watching the never ending boat traffic on the intercoastal. Look the other way and you have a distant ocean view which is also nice. When you first walk in the door to your room your eyes jump to the wall to wall windows and that special view. It is just fabulous. Lots of activity going on below, especially at Lola's bar and restaurant, which is very active, but not too loud. The staff is friendly and they provide coffee and a boxed breakfast of a bagel, yogurt and juice, which is nice. "

"We booked our stay at this hotel based on the reviews. Our first impression of the hotel was a bit strange. Our interaction with the front desk was very cold. My wife and I felt as we were a bother to the front desk staff as well as the coworkers in the front entrance. No greeting, Not even a hello. The room was ok. Dated! The air conditioning unit was so loud, it would wake me up at night when it went on. Mind you it was just replaced according to the Manager. If you stay at this hotel stay away from room 201. The hotel should never offer this room. The room is located next to the Staff supply closets/ Staff staircase door and the door made a lit of noise when it closed. Again waking me up while sleeping. The rest of the staff---wait staff, Beach staff were friendly. The hotel had a restaurant on the beach that was nice, but the couple of times we ate there, the food was always luke warm or cold. We informed the staff, but nothing ever came of it. I hope the hotels takes this review seriously so they can fix all of the above mentioned. I usually do not write reviews, but I felt I had to. "I paid a deposit and my card was Charged additional funds during my stay . And they assured me it was a mistake and would be refunded and up to today STILL NOTHING ! I don’t recommend!!!"

"Not very happy with stay. First, staff upon arrival weren't very professional or friendly and seemed pretty disorganized. Throughout the entire trip one of the two elevators was down with multiple occasions of guests being trapped on a stuck elevator. The other working elevator didn't list the floor level because the reader was not working. Ocean view was a partial view. Upon checking out was erroneously charged every day for a valet charge that had to be disputed. I was refunded but very inconvenient when trying to checkout early to get to the airport. Pool attendees and Tikki bartender awesome but otherwise it was a hit or miss to get a friendly staff. Will definitely not stay there again."
