Eventually another employee came out. A man with a scrub brush in one hand a a rum bottle in the other. He said there were no rooms so I left. Other customers were on their phones, trying to get refunds.
The lobby and the building were nothing like the photographs on Expedia.
Fortunately I had not paid through Expedi for this booking This taught me to never prepay Expedia and to always elect to pay on arrival.
