"The hotel really caters for big events etc. and was almost empty when I stayed. I only met the receptionist who was efficient, friendly and helpful. The hotel is very large and set in its own grounds and gardens. For my stay it was very quiet - I can't comment on when it is full and busy. However, my stay was during the latest heatwave and my bedroom was without air conditioning and uncomfortably hot. "The historic building is simply beautiful, very charming, and well-restored. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The service in the restaurant was very friendly but extremely slow. The food was rather mediocre. Breakfast was actually quite poor. There was barely a tablespoon of yogurt with the granola, and the toast was cold and hard like rusk. The location itself is beautiful."

"Really enjoyed our night here for our anniversary. Room was bright, airy and clean and the hotel was very nice. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. One thing we did notice is that it does require some maintenance on the outside. Our room was on the 1st floor, with a small balcony. Although the weather was fine, we were unable to sit out there as there was too much sitting rainwater, and from looking on the ground up, the balcony edges were worn and looking tired/ messy. "Stayed for one night in Room 8, room was clean, spacious and well equipped looking out onto the garden. Full English breakfast was really good, although tea and coffee were extra cost. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Overall a great short stay, we will definitely visit again! "
