"The main reason for my 2 star rating was the unacceptable noise at night. Sounded like a immersion heater or similar going beserk. It was like trying to sleep next to a jet engine. I was in room 2. I left very early as it was so bad, I just couldn't stand the noise. The hotel wasn't too bad, but ifyou can't sleep what's the point of staying? Not recommended. I'm glad it was only one night."

"Unique boutique BnB just wonderful."

"We had lovely time staying at the Cleveland Hotel. The room was excellent and the staff was very helpful."

"Very clean, friendly and helpful host, great breakfast"

"Julia and Jamie were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was freshly cooked every morning, with plenty of choice available. The seafront with lots of restaurants and amenities are within walking distance, making it a very convenient location. The mattress was a little too firm for our liking. We would also have appreciated the option of later breakfast slots (the latest slot was 9-9.15am) and blackout curtains/blinds in the bedroom, which would have allowed us to...

"Great stay, room was large and clean, bed and pillows extremely comfortable, breakfast was excellent, so much choice and very tasty. Also got a car parking space on site. Hosts were lovely. Nothing to complain about at all🤗"

"The Berberry is a great place to stay, just 10 minutes walk from the station or the seafront, and offers a very comfortable bed with a great breakfast to set you up for the day ahead!!! We were warmly welcomed, and the information Steve shared about local restaurants helped us to find some delicious seafood even on a bank holiday weekend!! Wendy’s delicious homemade cake was a lovely addition to a relaxing cuppa in the garden on our arrival, and the breakfast menu covers all tastes, including...

"Lovely & very accommodating hosts & very good breakfasts. Room was spotless with king size bed, TV, sea views, plenty of storage space, compact ensuite, etc. The on site parking requires some care from drivers, especially if you have a large car. Town centre, pubs, railway station & beach all a short walk down the hill."

"A good location to explore Torquay, Babbacombe and the surrounding area. Very well maintained clean place, car parking in front of the building. Very convenient location to the centre/harbour ( less than 10 mins by car). Darren & Jo are very helpful and friendly hosts. Nice breakfast, pre order the night before and it's served right on time, delicious. We were very happy staying there!"

"Really lovely owners. Room 4 was really tiny and would need the chest of drawers and chair removing to make some space. No need for a chair if it’s only one guest. Amazing breakfast. Difficult to find parking on street. Spotlessly clean."

"Lovely rooms, generous staff and excellent location"

"Our first mini break away alone, in 13 years and it didn't dissapoint. Anne is the most lovely host, so organised, courteous and kind, nothing was too much trouble. We were a little hot in the small double room, however Anne quickly provided a fan that assisted well. Breakfast was very tasty and scheduled for a time to suit us. Anne was very accommodating to my intolerances and catered with alternative milk and yoghurt. When booking I was unsure if booking the pool would be inconvenient,...

"We were a little disappointed with our stay and are surprised by the number of positive comments. While our room itself was clean enough, the rest of the property would benefit from a serious deep clean. The carpets on the stairs were heavily ingrained with dirt. We were also surprised to find that the dining area was carpeted, which seems an unusual and impractical choice for a breakfast room. The carpet was very dirty and had a musty smell, and there were crumbs scattered around when we came...

"The property doesn't have its own parking. There is free parking available on the street parallel to the entrance but this wasn't clear from the description. I appreciated the keyless nature of the accommodation. The gate lock can be a bit tricky to open. The room was clean and the bathroom was fantastic. They provide some food in the small lounge but I couldn't see anything gluten free."

"Always a warm welcome at the Clifton by Claire and Steve."

"Booked for 3 nights after reading the excellent reviews. Big mistake. Were greeted with ‘name?’ ‘Room 2, first floor’. The first thing we noticed was the filthy, stained carpet. Then on closer inspection the net curtains were rotten, dead flies and believe it or not feathers on the window sill. The bedding was very old and past its best. The shower had soap scum in the tray and hadn’t been cleaned and there was black mould at the bottom of the shower screen. The bathroom door was covered in...
