"Really disappointed with my stay at Sofitel. At check-in, I was told I was getting a king room with a view, but I had booked two queen beds so not an upgrade for me.
The pool is under construction (in 90+ degree LA heat), and the alternative was to use a sister hotel’s pool, but only after calling, paying, and getting reimbursed—super inconvenient.
Dinner was also a letdown. A tiny half chicken and French onion soup came out to $81, and the soup was honestly not good.
To top it off, valet made things uncomfortable by pushing for an upfront tip via cash or Venmo and having me scan his personal account.
Overall, this stay felt overpriced, inconvenient, and not at all worth what I paid."
"THE FINE PRINT: Don't bother with a "city view" room unless you're on a top floor, because all you will see is the ugly rooftops and other buildings. So don't pay extra for that unless it's guaranteed a top floor.
Ride Share: Waymo is not allowed into the property, so you have to get picked up at a dangerous gas station next door. Lots of homeless, drug users and mentally ill people talking to themselves at the gas station next door. Doesnt feel safe going to buy drinks or snacks. You get harassed for change. Doesnt feel safe getting picked up or dropped off there.
Resort Fee: this is one of those hotels that charges a resort fee, so be careful of that they do give you a $31 credit back. But the credit is not per day. It's for your whole day so you get charged for the resort fee daily.
Tips: They already and automatically include a 20% service charge, so anything you tip on that is EXTRA. They don't really disclose that. They just put a stamp on the receipt. You have to ask for an itemized receipt to see that the charge was added.
The front desk staff was weird. They saw us waiting in line and walked away mysteriously without saying I'll be back or acknowledging that we were there or saying someone will be right with you.
Otherwise, I really liked the location. It was really handy to the LA Metro, which made getting around very easy."

6/10 Okay
"Great location to walk to Universal Studios. Room was a little rundown. food was left in the refrigerator from previous attendant. Street noise was loud."
"The lobby was closed for a private party so we didn’t get to experience that. And the theater was closed due to maintenance issues, which was a bit of a bummer"

"Staff was helpful and great to deal with! Cafe was really good and the staff there were also helpful and friendly!
Only thing, shower is a little tight, and the shower head was pretty high. I’m 5’11” and had to reach for it to adjust spray pattern "
The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites, Los Angeles
10/10 Excellent
"My wife, my sister-n-law, my son and I stayed here the night before the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon. We picked this location because it was close to the marathon starting line and offered a shuttle from the hotel to the starting line for runners since there was no way to walk to Dodger Stadium. This hotel turned out to be perfect for the marathon. We stayed in room 1652 and even though we were a little early for our check-in our room was cleaned and ready for our arrival. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and made the check-in very smooth. There is FREE WiFi if you need it. The bed was super comfortable and the room was very spacious. No need to bring dongles because there were plenty of USB ports to plug our devices into. Parking was valet only for $59 a night or your could park in the garage next to the hotel for $8.99 per night. This hotel was very clean and has been unkept very well, but if you explored around at all you could see that back in the glory days this was the place. There were several spots for business, restaurants, that were just sitting empty. A sign of the changing times. If you are participating in the Los Angeles Marathon and do not want to deal with traffic and parking. I would stay here. My rating: BEST"
