I used to live in Chicago and on return visits, I stay at a different hotel each time. This trip I was mostly in the River North/Streeterville area and stayed at the 21c Museum Hotel. It exceeded my expectations. I was quite surprised at the large size of my room. The window faced north onto Ontario Street with a view of the building across the street. It’s most likely the case with all the rooms in this hotel as it is not located by Lake Michigan or the Chicago River. A comfy king size bed faced a small sofa which had a marble table in front of it. The sofa faced a large screen TV on the wall. The arrangement made eating take out a pleasant experience with enough room for 2 people to sit together. A chair in the corner and various light fixtures made the room comfortable and inviting. A small refrigerator near the door had a Nespresso coffee machine on top. Guests are provided metal water bottles which can be replenished with free filtered water in the lobby. A large built-in armoire included drawers and in-room safe. The bathroom was beautifully appointed with high end fixtures and the walk in shower can easily accommodate 2 guests. Staff were amiable and efficient. A bar and restaurant in the lobby serves very good breakfast, lunch and dinner. Though I’m not a huge fan of modern art, I appreciated the interesting artwork throughout the hotel. The 21c Museum Hotel is nicely positioned between River North and Streeterville and a great choice to stay in that area.
