"The room was clean and comfortable, with everything you might want. Without exception, the team of people running the accommodation and the adjacent pub and restaurant were friendly, efficient and committed to making our stay enjoyable. We had both breakfast and evening meal in the pub restaurant - the breakfasts were good, and the quality of the evening meals was far better than we expected from this type of establishment."
"The two twin bedroom is cramp and in a back building under the stairs. It was in need of being updated. There were no typical amenities, e.g., Kleenex, blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, refrigerator, hangers, etc. You could hear people talking outside on the courtyard across the walkway until after 11 pm. The bar drinks and food were fine. The staff were friendly and helpful."
"First, the staff - all of them - at The Channings, were superior. Friendly, helpful, accommodating, and willing to go out of their way to help. You won't find better, imo.
Next, The Channings is a lovely building, inside and out. Built in 1865 as a lavish home, it retains much of its original architectural beauty - plaster moldings, lovely staircase, beautiful floors, stained glass windows, and gorgeous woodwork. The beer garden is spacious and there's plenty of seating, though it's all picnic...
"Room are very tired and really need decorating, woodwork around the shower was rotten in a couple of places radiator was old and rusty. However the bedroom was ok ish. Bar was very pleasant but the kitchen was closed early with no notice so no food available. Plenty of parking.
Breakfast was advertised as full breakfast but this was not available a minimal continental breakfast was available which was very basic.Really not a place I would want to stay at again."
