Excellent welcome, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, the toaster is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Super convenient, as I was on a course at the university that weekend.

Lovely hotel on the edge of campus. Lots of atmosphere, impeccably clean rooms, and very friendly staff. After a busy week in London, the beautiful surrounds, fresh air and peace of Wivenhoe House were just perfection. We had two rooms for our party of three, both in the modern part of the hotel and both excellent. We especially enjoyed the room with a balcony overlooking the grounds. The restaurant was excellent, enjoyed dinner there as well as breakfast each morning - all just great. We didn't have a vehicle during our stay but found it easy and reasonable to get an Uber into town and to and from the train station.

Wivenhoe House Hotel was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every member of staff went out of their way to make me feel looked after, without ever being intrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was a real highlight. The menu was beautifully curated, showcasing seasonal ingredients and creative flair. Each course was expertly presented and full of flavour—clearly the work of a talented kitchen. The ambience in the dining room added to the experience, striking just the right balance between relaxed and refined. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. There was a generous selection to choose from, with both continental options and perfectly cooked hot dishes. Everything was fresh, high quality, and served with the same attentive care we experienced the night before. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with lovely views of the surrounding grounds—making it very easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Spotless room, excellent heating, plenty of hot water and power shower. In particular Visi, the front of house manager, was very accommodating, after we were unable to book the restaurant, going above & beyond to ensure our NYE was the best experience we’ve ever had. Highly recommend this hotel.

Staff kindly upgraded our room. Had a lovely balcony with view over fields. Room was fabulous. Clean and comfortable- bathroom seemed new and shower was amazing. Really loved the hotel and wished we were staying longer. Also on uni campus where our son residing so very convenient.

Stayed in the new wing, Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast in the room was great. We also had dinner and the food was excellent despite the team also coping with 2 Christmas parties.

The hotel was lovely, very nice room with wonderful views over the local countryside from the balcony. The room was nice and clean, and well appointed with a good coffee machine. Very nice bathroom, again clean. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, good quality and nice and hot buffet. Great coffee options. Was peasantly surprised.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were polite and friendly throughout our visit. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast was delicious with a great selection. We would happily stay here again.
