Conil de la Frontera is a picturesque town by the sea, located on the stunning Costa de la Luz. Pay it a visit and you will soon see why this lovely place draws visitors from elsewhere in Spain as well as further afield. Admire the white houses as you stroll along the winding streets, relax at the beach and discover the various natural and historic attractions located in and around the town.
Discover the story of the town’s past at the Museo Raíces Conileñas (Museum of Conileña Roots), a small but engaging museum that explores local history. Across from the museum is the Torre de Guzmán, one of the town’s most prominent historic sites. This 14th-century Gothic tower bears Conil de la Frontera’s coat of arms. Look for photogenic churches such as the beautiful Church of Santa Catalina as you make your way through the streets of the historic centre of town.
When you decide to head to the beach, you will be spoiled for choice. Some of the most popular ones within a short drive are the lively Fuente del Gallo, Castilnovo and Fuente del Gallo beaches. Meanwhile, the Camacho, Pitones, Aceite and Roche beaches are likely to offer more space to yourself. Drive 10 minutes to the south of the town and you will hit the spectacular beach at El Palmar, one of the best-loved sunbathing spots in all of Andalucia.
Beyond the boundaries of Conil de la Frontera, many different easily accessible destinations await. Follow the coast by car for roughly 45 minutes to reach Baelo Claudia, where ancient Roman ruins still stand. The scenic Duna de Bolonia (Bolonia Dune) is another major draw here. Or drive to the north instead to uncover the charms of the area around Jerez, known for its fantastic wineries.
Choose from a variety of different options for getting to Conil de la Frontera. Many international flights go to Jerez Airport, around a 50-minute drive away. Alternatively, drive from Seville, which takes just over an hour and a half.
