"Quiet island just across Venice. Close to a sandy beach and easy access to Venice and other islands. Rooftop bar was a good perk, we had aperitivo before going out to supper in Lido. We stayed in October and it was quieter than Venice but I can see that place booming in the summer months. "

I also enjoyed chatting to the lady in charge in French, as my Italian is virtually non-existent and it turned out we were both ex-teachers of French. "We booked this through hotels.com and we got a confirmation however they did not nor did they receive payment. We arrived and the host Valentina was waiting for us (because we called). She graciously let us in the gates and showed us one of two rooms to choose from which either one was fine. We were hungry and Valentina recommended a nearby restaurant that had great food. We woke up to a beautiful continental breakfast which tasted amazing and a latte. It was really foggy and we had to rush...

The breakfast each morning was terrific, not what we in North America view as a breakfast, but it was terrific !! it was nice to go see Venice by day but then return to the peacefulness of Lido !! "
