"This was end of Day one on the Coast to Cost bike ride. Staff great, no breakfast included in rate, bike was brought upstairs into room. Great location - it’s a popular working pub with parking so busy until late evening at the weekends. Solid value for money, great room size, could do with some investment to update rooms."

Our room was a good size but very tired decor, dust/cobwebs hanging from ceiling, bathroom very old fashioned and in serious need of modernisation. The bedroom (Room 9) overlooked a noisy courtyard and there was music playing until at least 11pm. Breakfast was very good. "Bathroom was filthy and covered in white powder (possibly plaster dust). Reported it but staff took no action which was very disappointing, especially considering the high cost of the room. Very understaffed and overall poor value for money. Which if booked somewhere else in hindsight as I've stayed in far better lake district hotels for less money."
