If there’s a hair dryer in the room, it’s will be better. Everything is good!

Room is small, the heater was not working very well. The staffs were very nice and helpful, service was good. The breakfast was good too.

What staff? We arrived, it was locked tighter than a drum, we went to the little grocery store and a very helpful young lady called the owner, she met us there and gave us a key and took off! It was adequate, but I would look for something else next time

We loved this place! The staff was extremely kind and helpful and we got to stay in the newly built cottages to the side of the hotel so we got some additional privacy. The rooms were nice and clean and the area around the hotel is just beautiful.

A cidade é pequena, nos atendeu apenas para pernoite numa viagem de carro. Quarto pequeno, mas suficiente. Check-in rápido e eficiente.

Not good place to stay.
The picture on Hotels did not show the right room, which was very small and uncomfortable. I knew it had not private bathroom. But I did not know that the bathroom had also shower so it was occupied most of the morning. When we came it was said that we had not paid for breakfast which we had. Then after an argument they said it was included because we had booked 4 nights. When we complained over not be able to go to toilet they could move us into better rooms. The gave us the price of the room we had orderd the price show us that we had paid for breakfast as we said. We had to pay extra for better rooms and for the breakfast which they said was included for those who staid for 4 days.

Hello Jon, it doesnt surprise me to see your comment. You clearly indicated youd published a bad review before you left. We are truly sorry that the room you originally reserved didnt fulfill your expectations. We talked a lot to both you and your wife trying to solve the matter and luckily we were able to arrange a room with private bathroom for you the last two nights. As you mention your original reservation was for shared facility room. You were both very happy about that and we informed you right then there would be an extra upgrade fee because if that. You said then that would not be a problem. Your statement about being charged for breakfast twice is therefore just not true. We only added 5000 ISK pr night upgrade fee to last two nights. Your breakfast was already paid in your original reservation and there was never a doubt about that, no matter what you write here. Again we are sorry that your experience staying here wasnt as you expected, we tried everything possible to make it as good as possible for you and Sigga. Best regards Freyja Hotel Manager

The first night we arrived late at night in May 2022 and there was nobody at the reception desk. Some other guest pointed to us that our keys were in a basket with our name attached to it, which was confusing. There was no elevator to the second floor. No top sheet on the bed. Small room, no toiletries. The next morning our host Freya was nice at the breakfast room and very helpful. So we left to explore the area for the day and we arrived late again that second night we realized our room wasn't cleaned at all. No way to ask for clean towels since nobody was at the reception desk and obviously our bed wasn't made, our bathroom was dirty and the trash was still there. There is a reason why we choose hotels over other types of accommodations and that's because we like our room to be cleaned everyday!! We stayed two nights in here and paid almost $300.00 US dollars for the two nights and no one cleaned our room!! That's never happened to us before. Is it a standard practice or is it just very, very bad management? How could they not clean a room in a hotel?? I am very disappointed, I wouldn't recommend this kind of hotel to anybody.

Very basic small accommodation but clean and safe
The primary reason to stay in Dalvik is probably to catch the ferry to Grimsey. The hotel is a very basic place to rest but not a place for long term . We stayed in the annex where you get basic room with shared bathroom and kitchen. The room is very small. Barely room to open a suitcase. The linens were clean and the bed comfortable. It felt like dormitory living. We also had loud roommates in other rooms but nothing EarPods couldn’t block out. No tv. WiFi signal was good. This is a very basic no frills hotel. It suited us fine, but it was cramped. It was a nice location to catch the ferry. Just know this is a bare-bones type stay. The front desk was nice. If you want luxury this hotel is not for you. If you just need a place to sleep, this place is clean and in a safe area. Breakfast is available for purchase but we opted to eat at the nearby gas station.

We used Hotel Dalvik as a home base for the ferry ride to Grimsey Island to see the Arctic Circle. We loved the convenience to the port, just a couple of blocks away. The staff was outstanding, very helpful.

Excellent Staff - Great Location - Comfortable
Excellent hotel. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space for luggage and to stretch out. The bathroom was in nice condition and the shower had super water pressure. The hotel has plenty of free parking and offers a nice breakfast to start off the day. The staff went above and beyond during this stay to help out with some extra assistance that was required. The location of the hotel is great, within easy walking distance to the center of town and to the Grimsey ferry. The staff recommended a pizza place that served some great pizza just a couple of blocks from the hotel. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Sæl Ásdís og takk fyrir komuna til okkar. Já víst er það skrýtið að ekki sé hægt að finna opinn matsölustað fyrir kvöldverð á Dalvík fyrri part vikunnar en þeir eru opnir síðari helming vikunnar og um helgar. Hádegisverð er hægt að fá alla virkadaga í menningarhúsinu Bergi. Varðandi kvöldverð þá hlaupa nágrannar okkar í Dalvíkurbyggð undir bagga og hægt er að fá kvöldverð bæði á Árskógssandi og Hauganesi Takk fyrir jákvæðar umsagnir um hótelið, við kunnum sannarlega að meta þegar gestir eru ánægðir.

Great staff and management.
We stayed for 3 nights while in Dalvik and found the accommodation basic but always clean and comfortable. The main plus for this hotel is the staff and management. They will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Their local knowledge is wonderful and took care of every request we had even when it meant more work for them. We would stay here again simply because of the management and staff.

The outside of the hotel looks a little worn but inside the rooms were clean, updated and very comfortable. The host was friendly and made sure the room was to our satisfaction. I was looking for a basic but comfortable accommodation for the night and this fit the bill.

Nice hotel in Dalvik
Clean room with a nice view. They have special entrance for the guests to walk out late at night in order to watch the Northern Lights. The receptionist was kind enought to wait until late at night because we were running late. We saw and. Took good pictures of the aurora. Cozy place fit for a night stay in Dalvik when you are here for the aurora or the whale watching tour.
