"My wife and I like to stay in small towns. We do not like fancy hotels and big cities. We like to have a place we can anchor from and then enjoy the journey. Hotel Brienz was perfect. First the area is amazing. The staff is great. Family owned and operated. You are 1 hour from Luzern, and Bern. 40 minutes to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. 20 from Interlaken. 2 3/4 hour train ride to Zermatt. Hotel offers a very nice and complete breakfast. "So amazing! This is an authentic chalet tucked in the mountains. It’s a quick drive to Lauterbrunnen or there’s a free bus. I love the little grocery market that’s across the street. Just a stone throw away. This market has famous croissants that are a regional favorite.. but don’t eat too many because the breakfast at this hotel is great. The staff was very polite. The only thing I would encourage them to do is provide coffee in the rooms. They do have teabags in the hallway and water kettles...
