A comfortable one night stay,good value for money,I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t dine but drinks were good and reasonably priced,nice beer garden.

Place is in a beautiful location near the river, it was very clean , the staff was polite and helpful. The dinners we had were lovely but the breakfasts wasn't,

The staff were very friendly and helpfull,the room was clean and the bed was very comfartable ,food was very good and generous portions also breakfast choice was very good as well ,all told I would reccomend the George and would stay that again in that vicinity

Room was decorated lovely and location were beautiful, staff were very friendly and helpful, outside tables and chairs could’ve done with a bit of a clean and would’ve been good to have some glasses & cutlery but apart from that the stay was perfect. I would recommend staying in the cottage to anyone!

Booked this for myself & staff as we were working nearby. This was a great place to stay, great pub with beautiful surrounding areas & nicely set on the river. The manager Stan was absolute class & we will definitely stay here again if working or even visiting the area.

Brilliant property, stayed here with our staff for the weekend while racing at Croft. Not far from the circuit, beautiful little pub, huge rooms, very spacious and clean. Found a little gem with this place and we will be back 100%.

Staff were amazing, welcoming, with a great sense of humour. The evening meal was delicious. Nice clean room. The breakfast was the best bit, cooked to perfection and the view of the river whilst I devoured it only enhanced the taste. Grand!

Avoid a room above the bar because of the noise. I think it must get its 3 star rating from the rooms in the new areas. The food was very mediocre. For food I would recommend The Fox Hole which is around a 5 minute walk. The setting saved my stay because it was lovely to sit by the river. The staff were very nice.

Good hotel, staff were friendly, plenty to see locally. They didn't make as much of the clock as they should. Would recommend. Food and drink good, and there is a local gastro pub if you would like some thing more up market.

Evening staff were great The bathroom/toilet needs a bit of a deep clean The mattrass wasn't flat - got a large duvet to use as a topper. Pillows were flat and hard The continental side of breakfast is pretty basic

Great hotel next to the river, lovely room over looking the gardens and river, the balcony was a bonus. Food was lovely and the portions large, plenty of parking spaces in front and to the side of the hotel. Great walk along the river bank and through the trees to walk off the dinner. Heading back there Monday 25th May 2026, for more of the same, if your in the area definitely worthwhile staying over here.

Lovely and spacious room. Only issue was the not hot water in the shower but reported to maintenance and fixed right away. Ok English style breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful

Music and talking from the bar below kept us awake for hours. Had to phone the reception, music finally stopped after 12.30. Beds not made on our middle night and no top up on water or tea supplies. Key didn’t work on second day. Breakfast was pretty grim, my requests were ignored. Staff not very friendly. Rooms were very warm, no fans. Location nice.

Simon the chef and his daughter are very friendly and helpful and provide an excellent breakfast. Julie the cleaning officer is a joy to meet and so thorough in her cleanliness techniques. All three of above are an asset to the hotel. David Ambleside
