"The staff was exceptional. The location and setting was exceptional. But some things were substandard. Breakfast was boring and same every day. Eg no croissants or breakfast pastries, only bread for toast. No cheese or cold meat or fish selection. No variety of fruits. Rooms were spacious but… no closet, no hangers. No place to hang clothes, no place to hang wet towels and bathing suits. Huge balcony with a tiny two-seater couch with no cushions. No cushions on the indoor couch either. A little...

"Hung up in unbelievable traffic in Santa Cruz, I was not able to check into the hotel until 7 AM the next day when they reopened. So I don't have the overnight experience one expects. That said, the room was very clean, the shower had good hot water, and I did get a morning nap on the bed. Fort7nately, it is off the road a bit. But noise carries and young Costa Ricans love their motorcycles. So if you are super noise sensitive that might bother you, but the traffic is really light on that...

"This has to be the best view in Playa Carillo. Staff is super friendly and food is fantastic. Only a few minutes to one of the nicest beaches in Costa Rica. I recommend a 4x4 though to get there."
