"This hotel in nothing more than several rotted out cabins on the hill. The site says a 2 star hotel, it is not a one star by anyone's measure. If you do not have a jeep 4 wheel drive do not attempt to drive down to the hotel. We booked this and went to the hotel. The area was closed, due to volcanic activity, but since we had a reservation the police let us pass. I started down the road, stopped and walked over 800 meters to the lodge. "Only 30 min from the airport, up in the coffee covered hills above the very vibrant Alajuela neighborhood, is the best, not too expensive hotel in San Jose. Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds and gardens, nice food and a very relaxing setting. We really enjoy spending our last night, after puddle jumping and before getting on that big old jet liner, just decompressing in affordable luxury. Go there, you'll be glad you did."

"The staff were friendly and very helpful, the breakfast was delicious (and the hours were convenient!), the property was clean and safe, the pool was small but very nice with lots of seating options. The location was also perfect, close to the airport but not noisy and very convenient with lots of food and shopping nearby."
