"Stayed for 3 nights at the end of July. Room was immaculate and cleaned every day, with a note to say who had cleaned it. Bed was huge, as was the shower. Room a decent size too. The only niggle would be the TV would be better if it was on a movable bracket as it's in the corner of the room and awkward to watch from the bed. "The staff were excellent. A really charismatic manager at the desk checked us in, recommended a few pubs and even pulled out a deck of cards out of his pocket to show us a magic trick. The rest of the staff, from the cleaning staff, to the bar staff were all really friendly and chatty. Definitely the highlight of the stay. My only minor complaint was the amount of construction noise happening during the refurb of some of the rooms in a hotel. There were skips being emptied at quite unsociable...

"The photos were very misleading. This place was very run down. On entry, despite lots of posters highlighting no smoking, the foyer and many areas smelled of smoke. The lady on reception was very friendly, however, she went through several rooms on the computer before finding one that had the keys available when she checked. "The hotel is conveniently located near many restaurants and is within walking distance of Newcastle University. The city centre is also easily accessible by bus. The staff were exceptional: warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. Free coffee was also available throughout the day, which was a nice extra."
