"The staff was very welcoming and helpful with everything. We felt very safe and were able to walk to town and restaurants. The place was very clean with daily housekeeping available. The courtyard was very pretty and was a good place for our family to hangout. Our stay was very enjoyable."

"Excellent 4 day stay during height of summer at Salty Lodge. Literally steps from the busy Old town, but area is very safe and somewhat quieter. The rooms are pretty spacious for our family of four, with a veranda that looks out/down to the street activity, stores and restaurants. Shower has pretty good water pressure, no shortage of hot water and rooms have comfy beds. We enjoyed the 5th floor rooftop, oh the views! Make sure to it out at sunrise. Centrally located on a quiet street but still within walking distance of all the restaurants and lively spots. Easily the best place we stayed in Portugal. "Honestly when I read the reviews about this place after my husband booked, I was very sceptical. People said it was dirty, had cockroaches, no hot water. None of this was true. About the hot water, you must realize that water heaters in Europe are half the size of North American ones. We had plenty of hot water. The only thing we didn't like are the beds are a little hard but it was the same at the previous place we stayed. We made do. Also tile floors are always cold which I'm not fond of but...
