"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful historic property in the heart of Swanage. I walked everywhere I wanted to go (beaches, shops, restaurants, bus stops, train stations) and felt perfectly safe doing so. The breakfast was cooked to order and was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend staying here to explore Swanage, Brownsea Island, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, and Durdle Door."

The Knoll House
10/10 Excellent
"Lovely hotel and location. Hotel a little dated and could do with a little revamp Dog friendly so expect many Canines Breakfast was fab. They do the best scrambled eggs!! Varied choice Rooms clean but dated. The WiFi could do with being updated too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, a nice few days away"

Purbeck House Hotel
8/10 Good
"Amazing, historic building with many original features such as a beautiful tiled hallway and original call bells in the corridor. However, the decor and soft furnishings are all a little tired and dated in the common areas and overdue for an upgrade. We stayed in the Deluxe Double room with ocean view courtesy of the oriel window. Bed was comfortable, usual tea/coffee tray provided. A mini fridge would have been welcome; especially with the hot weather. Again, the curtains and furniture all looked a little dated. The room was large with lovely original features. It would not take much to make this a spectacular room to stay in. Bath and toilet were clean, but the skirting boards had a film of dust. Breakfast was not included but we paid £9 each to have a continental breakfast. The viennoiserie were all gone when we arrived. I would have expected a selection of ham and cheese. There were no meats on offer and the only cheese was some pre-packaged fingers of Double Gloucester. There was a selection of cereals, some yoghurt with various fruits, and some breads, crumpets and waffles on offer. All perfectly adequate for the price, but not exceptional. The location is excellent. You can leave your car and walk for 5 mins to get to the prom. Its a 10-15min stroll to get to the pier and the boat trips. Can recommend the Pier Head Reastaurant for fabulous seafood dinners."

Belhuish Farmhouse

"We had a lovely time staying in this beautiful and charming farmhouse. Rod was very friendly and helpful."

Mortons Manor
8/10 Good
"Great location for this hotel in centre of Corfe Castle with parking which is a plus as the village doesn’t have many places to park. We booked a garden room for two nights and were a little disappointed as the garden rooms are all described as spacious and within their own walled garden. The photo shown on their website does not in any way look the same as the one we had. The room we were given was very small and dark and had tiny awning windows. In the recent heat it was impossible to breathe with no air circulating due to the room overlooking a covered area and with small awning windows that hardly opened. A fan was provided but the cable was too short and there were no sockets near enough to plug the fan in front of the bed. I had paid the same as others in garden rooms but think we were short changed in size as there was only enough room to walk around the bed. We dined in the restaurant on the first night and were shown to a room (not the restaurant) and had to ask to be seated and order taken 30 minutes after our booking time! No idea why we weren’t taken to the table at time we booked. We had booked the first sitting so expected to be seated then - maybe staff should be better instructed. The food however was excellent and so was the freshly cooked breakfast. The best member of staff was the young girl on our second morning at breakfast. She looked after us and made sure we all had our breakfast ordered in good time."

Durdle Door Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"—1 night— An absolutely great location, where you can enjoy Lulworth after the charabancers have left. It was lovely sitting out on the veranda with an evening drink and a bite to eat. The room was spacious and comfortable. Parking arrangements were poorly described in advance, but the helpful desk staff sorted us out. A great stay."

The Red Lion
8/10 Good
"Very friendly staff & convenient location for our visit to the tank museum. Accommodation was adequate for our needs for couple nights stay. Unfortunately after a busy weekend & arriving Monday and few items on the menu were not available, however what we had was fresh, tasty & served hot. The rooms were clean & nice big fluffy towels. Breakfast was as big or as small as you wanted. A large car park. Although our room faced the main road we were not disturbed by traffic noise. A very pleasant stay & would recommend staying here."

Grand Hotel Swanage
10/10 Excellent
"This was a lovely relaxing overnight stay at the end of my holiday. I had a wonderful sea view from my spacious room on the top floor, which had a large fan that quietly delivered a cooling movement of air during the night. It was only a 5-minute walk to the beach for a swim. In the early evening it was lovely to sit & relax in the garden area with no pressure to buy a drink from the bar. The shower was powerful with a large head and a handy second hand held showerhead."

The Pines Hotel

"Such an amazing view that I will never tire of, watching the early morning swimmers and dog walkers at 7am from the balcony - absolute tranquility."
