"After an 18-hour day on the road, we were beyond ready to stop for the night. We arrived very late, exhausted, and I want to start by thanking the lady at the front desk for how amazingly she handled my little breakdown at check-in. This stay was part of our two-week road trip honeymoon, and since we had just gotten married, I was still in the process of changing my name on everything. I had my ID as well as my marriage certificate with me to prove the name change, but Best Western's policy created an issue because the name on my payment card needed to match. Thankfully, I had received a new card with my married name right before our trip and was able to transfer money to it for the deposit. I do think Best Western needs to reconsider how situations like this are handled. If a guest has already paid for the room and can provide valid ID along with legal documentation showing a recent name change, there should be a reasonable way to accommodate that. After 18 hours on the road, it was definitely not the welcome I needed! That said, I want to make it very clear that the woman at the front desk was wonderful. Once I got through my little meltdown, I apologized and told her I understood that she was simply following policy and that my frustration wasn't with her. She was patient, kind, and professional throughout the whole thing, and I really appreciated how she handled me when I was exhausted and overwhelmed. As for the room, it was basic but fine for an overnight stay. You"
