"I am very very disappointed in this hostel. There were no actual door locks. The property is old and not in good repair and worst of all is that my mattress smelled very strongly of cat urine. Really! They tried to cover it up by hanging a toilet bowl sanitizer on the wall of the room. I removed it because the fumes were overwhelming.
Also... they rent rooms by the hour! Yikes.
It was the worst experience for me in a hotel/hostel, and I am a world wide traveller and often opt for...

"I appreciated the stay as I had traveled all day and welcomed a night to rest. The space is quaint & beautiful; I love all the plant decor! The staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast included was delicious.
It is located in a part of town I was uncomfortable with (as a foreigner), but the hostel was welcoming."

"The hotel staff were above board. My room was on the smaller side, I'd expected a little more legroom for the price. It was bare bones, one small towel, one hand towel, no washcloth. The onsite Italian restaurant was nothing to write home about, minimum choices, overpriced. Staff went out of their way to ensure I enjoyed my stay."

"We had a lovely stay at Hotel Fleur De Lys even though we were only there for one evening. The hotel was charming and clean and the staff was very helpful. We booked the suite with the jacuzzi and really enjoyed soaking in the tub after our day exploring the city. The room was spacious and cool. The breakfast in the morning was simple, but included eggs and pinto gallo so it would be a filling breakfast for anyone who enjoys those meals."

"No hot water in the shower. Charged us an extra 15USD for the 2nd person in the room. Food was so-so and pricey. They offered fruit for the morning as we were leaving before breakfast was served. They gave us one small container - enough for one person.
We’ve been staying here regularly when we arrive and prior to leaving Costa Rica over the years as have friends and family based on our recommendation. Sadly, we will likely change hotels based on our last experience. Very disappointing. I...

"Beautiful oasis in the city. The perfect place to spend a night before our early morning flight. The owner was so friendly and kind. She helped us get a taxi to the airport and even noticed we had a surfboard with us and arranged for us to get a bigger vehicle to make sure it fit. We highly recommend this place!"

"I have stayed here several times, but it has changed over time. The restaurant has changed and now has a few craft beers, but the service was better before.
There is some new venue close by that blasts music. I suppose that makes the hotel more convenient if you are going to that venue, but less pleasant if you are just looking to have an easy trip to/from the airport."
