Made an improvised stop to Dorchester on our way to the West Coast. The Bay Tree House was the first of many wonderful discoveries in the region. I would say, take more time to smell the roses and stay longer. This estabiahment is a great base for all your exploration.

A relaxing stay

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The services are as described, the breakfast options are extensive and my room is spacious and clean. I appreciated the fact it is located within walking distance to the centre, but away from any noise to ensure a quiet night's sleep. If I'm in Dorchester again, I would certainly stay again. Highly recommended.

Nice and clean - a good stay. The hosts were really great when I arrived quite late at night due to a missed train, and were really helpful in making sure I could get right into my room easily. I really appreciated their helpfulness and easy communication. There are a number of pets about the house including dogs, who make a bit of noise in the evening and early morning, but not too bad. I would be quite happy to stay here again.

The Bay Tree House was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable; Gary was friendly and helpful; and the location is a short walk to town. I also walked to both of Thomas Hardy’s homes. Max Gate was a leisurely ten minutes away; the cottage was a longer walk, but the route through the Dorset countryside was indescribably beautiful.

Comfy stay

Gary was very friendly and helpful. He called on the day I was checking in to check on my arrival and also recommended places to eat. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed. The bathroom is spacious but has a lot of cobwebs and some of the residents. The bedside is really convenient but I found someone else’s finger nails on it 😓 Breakfast the next morning was hearty and set me off to a good start.

A very convenient location for Dorchester centre which was a 15 minute walk. The landlord was very friendly and helpful and made my 4 night stay very comfortable. There was a great choice at breakfast where the landlord was able to sort me out with porridge.

Helping us do Hardy

Our stay was really comfortable. Gary (our host) was extremely helpful, first trying to order us a taxi to visit the Hardy Cottage and House, and then, when that proved fruitless, driving us to the Cottage himself, refusing to accept any payment for doing so.

Short Notice

I booked late and last minute through an app, but it was no problem. After over 5 hours of driving I was ready to relax and sleep and Bay Tree was perfect for this. I booked the single room with ensuite so had to climb to the top floor but did this with ease, even with three bags. The room was clean and wonderfully comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and set me up well for my drive home. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. Hopefully in nicer weather so I could take advantage of the gorgeous looking outdoor area they have.

My very pleasant stay at Bay tree House

I had a single room with a very comfortable bed and slept very well. The breakfast was ideal for me and I was offered a cooked breakfast too. Gary was extremely helpful and made life a lot easier for me.I loved the atmosphere of Bay Tree House and would happily stay there again.
