"The hotel is in a great location for exploring York. The staff were all friendly and efficient. Our mattress, room 311 was a little soft for our liking and there was a lot of noise early mornings due to the bins, otherwise a great stay."

The Grand, York

8/10 Good
"This hotel is ideally located near the train station and a few minutes walk to the main centre. Walkable to The Shambles, walls, shops, Viking centre etc. The room was very spacious and clean with amenities provided. Tea/coffee and biscuits were provided and a fridge in the room with water. We couldn’t fault the room. We didn’t eat in the hotel so couldn’t comment on the food but the choices looked good. We did use the gym. It was small but had all we needed. We thought it had an indoor pool but this was linked to the spa, so unless you are having a spa session, you can’t use the pool. If you are looking for a nicely located hotel with a little luxurious feel then this is the hotel for you. We would definitely return."

Hampton by Hilton York

"Lovely stay at the Hampton by Hilton hotel.in York. Room was clean and provided everything we needed. Breakfast was good. Only thing I would suggest improving on is the A/C in the bedroom. Our original room had a fault so we were moved to another room without issue and we were assured that it was working. Not sure if the unit was not working fully but we had the temp set for 17° with the fan on full and the room was still fairly warm. Not the best for a couple of menopausal women. Luckily the weather wasnt too warm as if it had been we would have probably struggled to sleep. Please look into this as apart from that the stay ticked all the boxes"

"Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because the check staff tried to charge me for a booking I had already paid for - good job I was on the ball and had a receipt to prove. Room was great (albeit hot) and breakfast was also great, lovely restaurant staff, would definitely recommend and location was also a bonus."

"We received a warm welcome from staff when we arrived. Our room was clean and spacious with a kettle to make hot drinks, you can also get unlimited coffee, tea, sugar and milk in reception which is useful. There was a large selection to choose from for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was all nice and warm. Parking is free but make sure you enter your car reg on the iPad in reception. This is our second visit to this hotel and we will visit again as it’s in a good location."
