"We traveled to Scotland to experience OLD WORLD charm and history. This hotel was not what we expected. It is totally renovated with new materials. It was very presentable, but the staff was very upper echelon oriented and the vibe was upscale which I tend to avoid. The food taste and quality was not up to the standards they presented. The room had no air conditioning, only heat and it was warm on our visit. Overall, this hotel was very nice, but not what we were wanting to experience as a...

"This is a lovely, old barony house. It is not a pristine chain hotel. Give yourself plenty of time to roam the house and grounds. This place is breathtaking! Staff was mostly helpful, though we requested a whisky tasting, were told they'd inquire and let us know, but never did (we assumed that meant no). Dinner service was very slow the evening we were there, with very few other people. Bar drinks had to be requested more than once before they arrived. Wait staff was not very attentive. Food and...

"I had my credit card scammed via a message from this hotel threatening to cancel my booking. I managed to get the fraud squad to sort and when I informed the hotel, the receptionist laughed and said they don’t communicate via text. One evening we arrived back late and our key card stopped working. We got through the main door but it took an hour for a staff member to arrive to site to reset the key. There were another five couples in the same position. There was little apology for the...

"The staff could not have been better, friendly and helpful. The room itself was very clean but nothing great and only had the bare minimum in it. I didn't realise before booking but parking and the use of the pool, sauna and steam room are not free. The pool when I used it as well was incredibly busy to the point you could not move as it's open to the general public. I don't think I'd stay again given the price I paid and the extra charges for what I would have imagined most hotels would...

"We arrived with a confirmed booking (2 rooms) at almost midnight, only to be told at reception they were fully booked. No further explanation or assistance in helping us get alternative accommodation, so we were stranded in Edinburgh with nowhere to stay. Ended up having to return to the airport and waituntil 8am for a flight home. In the time we were there, we saw this happen to 2 other bookings - told they couldn't accommodate them even though they had a reservation. A review of the...
