"Chosen originally for its location to Cambridge City centre with free parking and looked good in the pictures. We arrived early so decided to take lunch there. Very inexperienced staff member behind bar led to disjointed, incorrect and undercooked orders. Not a good start and due to this we never ate there again during the stay. "This property was probably a very nice house in its day with a great location close to Ely centre and backing onto the golf course. It’s now very tired old lady that’s seen better days. It was clean and the breakfast was very good. There was no one to receive us and the room key was left on the reception desk with a note. We had room 8 which is on the top floor which must have been back in the day the servant’s rooms.To reach it a door from the first floor led to a narrow flight of stairs which...

"Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The room and amenities could do with some updating, and the bathroom could have been cleaner. The walls are quite thin, so you can easily hear other guests coming and going, which may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper. On the positive side, the bed was clean and very comfortable, the English breakfast was lovely, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was also easy to find.
