Swell Motel
10/10 Excellent
"Surprisingly charming little motel. Checkin staff was super friendly and helpful - offered us free bike and kayak rentals which was unexpected. It sits right on a little creek with pretty quick access to the sound. Apparently it was someone’s birthday and they were throwing a little party on the grounds - there’s a small stage, they had live music, free food. We had plans so we didn’t go but it was nice to be invited. :) It’s clearly been around for a long time but seemed to be pretty recently renovated inside. Everything was clean and comfortable. Just about as convenient as Buxton gets - directly across from the lighthouse road. Walk to the beach is just a few minutes."

"A very charming and well maintained campground. My little peach colored cabin was like something out of a storybook. Cassandra, the greeter in the office, was such a delight to work with!"

"I had stayed here before and loved it, especially the location. This time I had trouble with check in which was supposed to be open until 8:00pm but no one was there. After spending about an hour on the phone a really nice man from Kees helped me out. I would suggest you call them ahead of time to get your apartment number and key code. The apartment was very nice and clean, but the wifi was down and I had no service or tv all night."

"The location was great, close to harbor and ferry. Great weather, around 80s. Everything is available in short distance. First time here, so plan well with groceries and food options. Everything closes at 9 and less options for groceries. Be prepared to stay at a calm, country side and take a break from busy city life. Wish we had few more days to stay but enjoyed our short trip."
