Gila National Forest

Quemado (burnt) Lake in central New Mexico is a relatively quiet recreation area with dropping water levels that have restored boat use, which is a gain for hikers who like to peacefully trek its 1.2 mile perimeter.

The San Francisco River winds through this bend. A 3.5 mile hike (round trip) drops you into the valley to play in numerous hot springs that feed into the river. Beautiful in the springtime!
