Extremely hot and not able to turn the heating off as already off! Floor 3 rooms are extra hot and uncomfortable. Very tired dated hotel but you get what paid for. Really small tight bathroom. Clean bedding and quite comfy. Alright for 1 night. Friendly staff. No issues.

Although the room was a little tired and in need of a refurb, fantastic value for money. A large town centre hotel that also offers free parking and located near shops and bars

You get what you pay for. The property is older and a little tired, however, the sheets were clean and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom. For the price it was good value, but it's not a modern hotel. The restaurant was very good and reasonably priced, and the staff were all very helpful. The hotel is next to a large open space which people wander through at night, which we found to be a little noisy. The hotel is conveniently located for shopping and local restaurants as well as being close to the bus stops and railway station which give you access to most of the surrounding area. I would consider staying here again if in the area, but I would probably ask for a room that is not on the front of the hotel.

Very friendly welcome, everything was great except for the fact that it was very hot, so much so that I kept waking due to the heat in the room even though the radiator was off

the hotel is nice enough but it looks unloved chipped paint the dinning room carpet was filthy and they had a xmas party for twenty people it looked dreadfull

I would never recommend
This hotel is in really bad condition and very old. The owner has made no attempt to update. The food was terrible, probably the worse breakfast ever.

This hotel is reasonably priced and clean. The room I stayed in was tired looking and carpet threadbare in places but it was very clean and I had a comfortable stay. The room was nice and cosy. Bathroom again tired but very clean. Stayed for work purposes so did not visit the restaurant but wold definitely stay again. Reception staff were great and welcoming, smooth check in

A little dated but clean comfortable and warm (it snowed during our stay) Grimsby Minster was an added bonus, lovely and peaceful in the square. Enjoyable stay.

Although some of the furniture was dated it was in very good condition. I wish i could of opened the window a fan isn't the same as fresh air. Also the room could benefit from secondary glazing you could hear their conversations, pleased i wasn't on the road side

The room was clean but very tired, threadbare carpet and stains. Furniture tired. On the positive bed was comfy, had a good range of tea/coffee facilities and reception were great

A very enjoyable stay
The location of the St. James is perfect .... steps away from the train, the center of town and the bus stops. The breakfast was tasty and good quality. The pub is top drawer with lots of friendly staff and patrons. Excellent quality for value. Two night stay for my wife and I.

Great price, but the hotel is very tired. Furniture in the rooms is very shabby. We thought a room opposite the Minster would be quiet - not a chance. We had to request a room change because of the shouting and swearing in the square outside. It was also a very hot room. We were given another room over looking the carpark which was cooler and quieter. The faux leather chair was peeling. It just needs a bit of money spending on it, and good double glazing on the Minster side.
