Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. "I have used this hotel four times this last year as a stopover for trips from south Devon to Scotland and overall have been pleased with the facilities and service provided. Meals have been excellent and the rooms comfortable and clean. My only concern has been with the service in the dining room: the staff are all delightfully friendly and welcoming but on each of my visits service has been very slow - it took 40 minutes last night for drinks we’d ordered to arrive and our meals a further 10....

"Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. On this occasion we were in the restaurant for about two hours and it took 45 minutes before we got our starter. This was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect."

"We arrived and wasn't too sure which of the pubs we were staying in. One of the girls was really helpful. The room was extremely small but absolutely not an issue. It was relatively clean, the only thing's that were a bit of a put off - the stains on the chair in the room, cooling fan covered thick in dust, bath matt was mouldy and the bathroom had black mould on the ceiling. Despite this the bedding and towels were all nice and clean. Weve never had a shower so hot before in any hotel which...
