"We stayed at Omar Khayyam Hotel for four nights, paying approximately $431, which is on the higher end compared to other hotels we used during our trip in Uzbekistan.
Upon check-in, the first room we were given had a very worn and extremely squeaky mattress, to the point that even small movements disturbed the other person. After spending an uncomfortable first night, we reported the issue and were moved to another room, which we appreciated. However, the second room did not have a refrigerator, which was inconvenient for a stay of this length.
The breakfast was disappointing, especially considering the price. There was very little variety of hot food, with most options limited to cold items such as cheese and cereal. On two of the four mornings, we were told that we were the only guests, and breakfast service was noticeably scaled back. This gave the impression that corners were cut, which further reduced the overall value of the stay.
In comparison to other hotels we stayed at in Uzbekistan—many of which were less expensive—this was the weakest overall experience.
Finally, while our booking mentioned an additional hotel tax of approximately $30, we were charged the equivalent of about $40 at checkout, without a clear explanation for the difference.
Overall, while the staff did accommodate our room change, the comfort issues, poor breakfast quality, and pricing discrepancies made this hotel poor value for the cost."
"I had an exceptional stay at this family-run hotel. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was truly heartfelt. The owner and his family welcomed us warmly and even offered complimentary confectionary items, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The property itself is modern, newly built, and beautifully designed. Every detail—from the decor to the fixtures—feels fresh, stylish, and thoughtfully put together. It’s clear the family has invested a lot of care into creating a comfortable and visually appealing space for guests.
The owner’s sons were incredibly helpful—always on their feet, assisting with breakfast and making sure every guest was looked after. One of his sons even walked with me personally to guide me to the Friday prayers, which was an extremely kind gesture that I’ll always appreciate.
The breakfast had a good variety, and the entire family constantly checked in to see if we needed anything. Their respect, kindness, and accommodating nature made the experience feel very personal.
In all my travels across Uzbekistan, this hotel stands out as one of the best in terms of customer service. Their dedication, modern facilities, and genuine care for guests make it a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area."
"Great boutique property, with excellent location and service. Staff are very friendly and I recommend this hotel if you wish to stay centrally in the old town Bukhara"
"The friendly English-speaking staff at this family-owned hotel were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is just steps away from the historic city center - perfect for sight-seeing and shopping for local crafts. The hotel was quiet and very clean. I appreciated the mini-fridge and coffee/tea pot and good WiFi. The hotel’s rooftop terrace has a stunning view of the city’s historic architecture. I went up to take photos multiple times. The breakfast included seasonal fruits, bread, egg, breakfast cookie, sausage, coffee/tea. I highly recommend the hotel!"
