"The Kauai Inn is quirky, eclectic, and all the other adjectives that describe a historic inn nestled next to the Lihue harbor. Drive past the warehouses, docks, storage tanks, and assorted industrial activity to a secluded garden spot housing rooms that look like they're relics from the 50s. Will you be impressed with the luxurious surroundings and comfort? No. But everything works, the place is clean, quiet, and well organized. "The first room that I paid for through Expedia and checked in was super hot they did not turn on the AC before we arrived so it was like 90°. We had three twin beds and one small AC. It was not acceptable so we asked if we can be moved. They moved us into a cottage which ended up costing 90 extra dollars for the night, but it had three small ACs And definitely was worth the upgrade for a better night sleep it was extremely hot and humid we was not able to get any of the amenities. "The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking. Parking was easy once we found the unit. Construction in the parking lot. We moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, with ground floor. 6 nights were good once we settled in. My husband has hard time with 20 stairs and carrying luggage!!! We called for help when we first got there. Staff was gracious!!! :)"

There was a dirty sock in the drawers, a lizard running around, and MULTIPLE cockroaches. There were stains on the pull out bed, along with trash and crumbs underneath it— clearly nobody is cleaning the rooms thoroughly. "This is our second stay at this property and it is as beautiful as I remembered it. We were quite relaxed as soon as we checked in. We were in a studio with a Murphy bed but it wasn’t too bad as we were out most of the day. Our next door neighbors were quite noisy and we alerted the Front Desk and it was remedied quickly by putting up a sound barrier between the connecting doors. "The resort is self is old, but the location is awesome and most of the people that work. There are very friendly except for one gentleman who is extremely rude. They really need to have their rooms a little bit cleaner."
