"I'm a little sad writing this review. This used to be our "go to" place. We didn't look anywhere else when visiting Boston. Next trip, we'll be looking to try someplace better in the area.
It's not the staff. Always friendly and helpful, as every time we've visited. There's new management, and I see it as they're trying to run it like a low end property vs a nice destination.
Walking in, we find out that they've not renewed garage contract. You can valet park for a fee, or self park and pay that other company. Costs are all about the same, but there's a hassle now. Can't easily visit the car anymore. Nickle and dime.
Still, everything is spotless. Staff is great! The fixtures in the shower? Cracked. Leaking. Functional, but something you'd expect at a lower end place.
On the way out? Much longer lines than I remember, and arguments between guests and the staff. We'd never seen that in the past. It was like a Mtl 6. I chalked it up to the guests, checked out, didn't even ask to see the receipt, because it's Seaport, we trust them.
The next day I'm back home, going through receipts and emails, and see some weird charges on the final invoice. Not incidentals, which is what you expect, but extra fees per day. Minor, but it's one of those tricks they play to make them have a lower booking price online. Budget hotel games. And now it makes sense. Love the staff, but the atmosphere has changed. The staff can't make up for weakness at the corporate level."
