"The Inn on Officers’ Garden is a beautiful property in a great location. The rooms are lovely, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, and the hotel itself has a charming atmosphere. There were, however, a few areas where the guest experience could be improved. When I needed assistance with a reservation issue, I was told that I could only book through Expedia, even while I was at the hotel. This was confusing, especially since another couple in our group, who were staying at the hotel at the same time, were able to book directly through the hotel’s website. In addition, a previously discussed discount was not honored. Communication at the front desk could also be improved. For example, I was told that breakfast was not offered, but later learned that breakfast options were available through the hotel’s website. Clearer and more consistent information would have been very helpful. The continental breakfast was pleasant, but it might be nice to offer guests the option of purchasing a hot breakfast item for those who prefer a more substantial breakfast. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, clean, and well maintained, but clearer communication and more consistent guest service would make the experience even better."

"The hotel room was clean and very spacious. We would have liked to have had a storage space for our mountain bike, but we were able to keep it in the room when we asked. Front desk, staff was a tentative and helpful. The convenience of having the casino right beside and in a walk-through because of inclement weather was nice. We enjoyed the band that would come on stage at the sports bar every night, however, would be nice to have a bit of a dance floor. The gym was great."

"Check-in after hours took about 20 min, but was straightforward. I suspect it would have been quick had I arrived during office hours. The instructions for buying parking I received ahead of time didn't work. However, there was a QR code to scan at the check-in desk that worked fine, even after hours. The fitness centre is the Mount Royal University Recreation Centre. It cost me $13 for the day, after the discount for staying in the residences. Fantastic facility - full gym, pool, even a rock wall (though I'm not sure if you can get certified to use it in a couple days - I didn't check). Bring a lock and a towel. The Wi-Fi was super-fast - at least as good as I get at home."

"Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. The problems began before we could even get into the property. The door code provided did not work, leaving us locked out after a long day of travel. We struggled to get ahold of anyone and finally received a response after 8 PM with a different code that worked. Once inside, the condition of the house was shocking. The property was dirty, outdated, and poorly maintained. We arrived late and hungry only to discover the dishes, utensils, and cookware were filthy, meaning we had to wash items before we could even eat. There was debris inside the cupboards, the bathroom was gross, and the bathroom lights did not work. The beds were unbelievably uncomfortable — cheap steel frames with thin mattress pads where you could feel every metal bar underneath. The hot tub was completely unusable. We specifically booked a place with a hot tub, and this one had visible debris floating inside and slimy water. We refused to go in it. Other issues included tiny TVs, barely any toilet paper supplied, and old games with missing pieces. The listing photos were extremely misleading compared to reality. Honestly, I would have felt more comfortable staying in a downtown hostel than this rental. Hotels.com should seriously inspect this property before continuing to allow their brand to be associated with it."
