Fantastic staff and the best restaurant we have ever eaten in! A good alternative to Fort Cochi which isn't as nice as is made out to be! The street is very busy but our windows blocked out all noise. Would highly recommend.

No coordination between front desk staff

During check in, front desk told the breakfast is complement for 2 days. Finally during check out, they charged breakfast charge, it was not expected.

It's a legacy hotel on the MG Road in Kochi. Rooms are comfortable and you have a choice of classic and modem interiors. The restaurant serves an excellent choice of Kerala cuisine and multi cuisine. I am a regular there for all the above reasons as well as the hotel's proximity to some good shopping outlets.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Location is very central. Plenty of parking. Valet is available. Little bit of a mess outside on the road as the metro work is going on. Walking is hazardous.

Not worth for price

It's an average hotel they served very basic breakfast didnt have much choice for vegetarians staff didn't know English and weren't very accommodating. Elevator smelled like poop.

Hotel with character

The Grand Hotel is close to Ernakulam Junction train station and around a 30 minute drive to the Fort Kochi area. It has old world charm but still has modern comforts and is a comfortable stay. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. There was a lot of construction going on in front of the hotel in February 2018 but it was not too much of a disturbance from our room which faced the main road. However if you are in Kochi to visit Fort Kochi it might be worthwhile looking for accommodation there rather than in the main city area.

GOOD HOTEL

We never could get a hot shower which disappointed us as the room was really good and spacious.and the bathroom quite large.

Hotel rooms are not very clean & furniture is also old . Location of the Hotel is not very good . Not recommended for business travellers . Its just 1 start H& not value for money .

Very nice experience

The Grand Hotel in Ernakulam as mentioned on LonelyPlanets guide for south held its promises. A 60's hotel aged with respect. Professional, quality, clean and with great space both in rooms and common areas. With a renovated dining hall and new bathrooms this old hotel still feel up to date. The furniture is timetypical wooden 60's. There are some stains on my sofa and such but didn't bother me. Don't expect modern steel and glass - this is oldschool bit very wholehearted. The breakfast is very good. Indian base with add on made on demand omelett, hash brown, coffee and toast. Some fresh food in cubes. Morning pastries if you are into that. The restaurant at the Grand Hotel is popular and crowded - busy but the service is very efficient. The menu is big and hold a lot of different cousines but I have so far had the Keralas and the flavour is all there - very good standard and quality here. Not cheap but you get what you pay for I think. This hotel is in Ernakulam. I chose this because I am travelling onward and didnt want to stay in the more touristic Fort Cochi. I take the rik-shaw to the jetty 20-40 INR and then the ferry 4 INR and then I am at Fort Cochi. A bit more fuss but I like the morning walk and the trip on the waterways. Any downsides? There are construction going on outside and the first night they did do nightjobs which was disturbing. Following nights was silent but might probably happen again. I stayed at the Grand Hotel for 5 nights.
