It is quite a long way from other sights in Kyoto though but close to a local train station so fine if you’re happy to take transport to get around. Beds great & nice feather pillows. Very clean & tidy but be aware there is no front desk so it’s best to do the check-in prior to arriving. "The room and bathroom were so tiny, so we need to squeeze between table and bed, tolet seat and wall. There no closet for your clothes. Many breakfast pictures aren’t what is shown on website. Location is good only for transportation - metro is close by, but no supermarket nearby and restaurant is not available at the hotel."

"The hotel has nice lobby and rooms. Close to Kyoto station, cost only about 800 yen to hotel, and close to few cultural sites. The staffs are friendly, and helpfull. I and my wife love the japanese breakfast thwy served."

"This hotel is very nice but the location is a bit inconvenient. I think Kyoto as a whole doesn’t have a wide train station so every tourist attraction from the hotel is a 15-30 min car ride. The hotel was clean and staff were nice, no hotel breakfast though. The beds aren’t the most comfortable but it’s manageable. Overall would stay again for the price. "

"Nice hotel close to Kyoto station and shopping mall and restaurants, very clean, but bed is small for 4ppl (I booked quadruple room) and I don’t really like the pillow too. But overall it’s a very nice hotel."

"Incredibly convenient with the hotel being a short 7 minute walk from kyoto station allowed me to shop and easily return to hotel and head out again. Bus stop to Kiyomizu was also close by. Staff were always super friendly and helpful, and they also speak good English. Would definitely consider staying here next time. "

"My friend and I had booked a twin room and were a disappointed as the pictures had made us believe the rooms were a lot bigger and more modern than they actually are. The room felt quite small and dated, my friend referred to it as "it's like being in a camper van", which was a testament to how small it was, with the plastic bathroom being one step higher than the rest, and the beds being as hard as the floor. "Kumano house is cozy, clean and organized, and I loved all of the information provided for places to eat and visit. I was caught off guard with the rooms being on the 2nd floor and the steep stairs was burdensome with elderly family members in our party. We made it work and we enjoyed living in a typical home in Japan. Uber transportation were hesitant in traveling down the lane to the house but we also made that work. My group really enjoyed our time here at Kumano House. "
