We had a great stay at this riyokan! Very spacious and the whole place flowed really nicely. Breakfast is delivered at 8:30-9am in the mornings. Easy walk to anything if you enjoy walking and checking out the neighborhoods. Would recommend!

It’s your traditional Japanese house very clean and well kept only downfall for us was that we were 5 and only one bathroom and the bathroom was downstairs and beds upstairs and also stairs were a little steep for us but overall we made it work and enjoyed our time.

While the place isn’t modern which was expected, our overall experience was nice. They have a washer which was convenient but the detergent was not filled up so we barely had any to do our laundry. The staff was quick to respond whenever I had to questions. Since most tourist areas aren’t walking distances, you should be expect to call the cab or walk 10 minutes ish to get to a train station.

What a well appointed ryoken! The tatamis were incredibly comfortable, and we enjoyed green tea in our private zen garden. The place was immaculate and stocked with all the amenities. It is indeed walking distance from Nijo Castle and a short taxi ride to Gion. We highly recommend this ryoken.

It is a traditional Japanese style home. Very sparse furnishings - bare room and a weird outdoor area that isn’t very usable. Beware if you are over 6’ tall. Low beams and dark rooms will have you hitting your head all the time. Also if you have any one in your party with mobility issues be aware. The stairs are steep and very narrow. You will want to avoid walking down the stairs to the bathroom at night! The kitchen is super dark and dank - there was an incessant drip and odor that made the space unusable. It is in a good location and it is authentic Japanese style, but it is not a luxury experience. There was no support services at all. It is an Airbnb type set up so you are on your own. Pros: Real Japanese home and authentic experience Great neighborhood Comfortable beds Good AC Clean Responsive hosts Cons: Sparse furnishings Not suitable for any one over 6’ tall or with limited mobility Weird unusual space in the back of the house Spa is just a deep sink off the shower - not what you expect Kitchen had a bad smell with very limited functionality No one site support or assistance

This was one of the main highlights of our month long honeymoon to Japan. It is absolutely stunning and the location is quiet and charming yet very walkable. We will absolutely be back soon! Highly recommend.

Great location between tourist sites but not in a touristy area. Good choices for neighborhood restaurants. It is ideal location and size for family to four. Six is possible but a little tight. Morning run to imperial palace gravel ground is a big plus.

Foi uma experiência incrível ficar em uma casa com inspiração arquitetônica de Ryokan. Minha noiva amou! O bairro é bem sofisticado e a localização é ótima, perto de restaurantes e do Castelo Nijo. A casa é incrível, todos os detalhes. Fomos no verão e tinha ar condicionado em todos os cômodos e isso foi ótimo. A experiência do café da manhã foi bem interessante! Diferente do que estamos acostumados, mas amamos! Valeu a pena! pegamos apenas 1 diária para ter essa experiência mais tradicional do Japão, mas amamos!

If you’re looking for the perfect traditional Kyoto house stay, this is the one. Such a nice house that was very relaxing to stay in. My only complaint was that the outdoor bath was too shallow, however the the bath in the alcove next to it was perfect.
