The hotel was close to a subway and walkable to some key sights and areas. Reception and staff were friendly and helpful. Complimentary soft drinks was a nice touch. Only downside is the room is very small by Western standards so not much room for storing clothes and luggage etc. but other than that well appointed and comfortable beds.

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay! Check-in was easy and our room was quite comfortable. We both thought the breakfast was excellent. They provide a Japanese-influenced breakfast buffet and don't offer the same items every single day, which I was a fan of. Other than breakfast, the hotel doesn't offer too many other amenities, but we found it to be perfect for our needs. A subway station is about a 10-minute walk away, there are lots of nearby restaurants, and you'll see lots of convenience stores along the same block! All in all, if you're looking for a lowkey and comfy place that's near the Gion district, this hotel is a great choice!

Really enjoyed our stay, loved that there was coffee and drinks available in the lobby, also if you don’t need your room making up you can get a 500Y credit for the local shops which we used to pick up breakfast each day. Clean, tidy, staff were lovely. Comfy beds and big shower. Rooms are small as they are everywhere in Japan!

The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing was that the hotel reservation was hacked and requested my credit card information. I received a message from this hotel using Expedia's messaging system. Fortunately, I did not send any information, but I felt it was not safe.

Hotel was super mooi. Veel winkels ik de omgeving en openbaar vervoer op loop afstand. Openbaar vervoer hebben wij bijna niet gebruikt. Winkelcentrum ik de buurt was super. Alles op loopafstand. Personeel erg behulpzaam. Kamer was spectaculair.

Barely any floor space! Breakfast buffet was dismal. There were many people staying there who don’t generally eat fish at breakfast. The scrambled eggs were runny!

The hotel was very clean and great value for what we paid. The location was great for us as it was a nice walk to Gion and to Nishiki Market. The room was nice and had everything we needed. Customer service was excellent for people who do not speak Japanese. We would definitely stay here again!

The concierge service is nonexistent. Asked hotel to make reservations for high end restaurant and said everything is booked. So i tried to make it myself and was able to book 3 restaurants out of the 7. The hotel offers one breakfast coupon per room which is ridiculous when there are two guest staying per room. Need to purchase addiontal breakfast coupon of 2200 yen. Would likely stay at another hotel in the future.

Dear Tzu Ying, thank you for your comment. I have replied to Mrs Ying regarding the restaurant and, as you are probably already aware, we are looking into improving this service. As for breakfast, this is a benefit for VIP members, not a free breakfast per sie. This is more a booking incentive that something the hotel gives for free. Otherwise, it would of course make sense to give it to all guests staying in the room. I really wish we could have explained in a better way while you were staying with us. Stayed for 4 nights in a deluxe suite. It was one of the nicest places we have stayed - large, clean, modern. Having a suite with a little kitchen and laundry was terrific. Transportation was very close by, and a nice little grocery store around the corner. The staff were also extremely polite and helpful even with their limited English (which is way better than our Japanese). Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Pros: Staff are great and spoke English well. The expedia gold upgraded room was comfortable except for the pillows that's too soft (common Japanese hotel problem). The room and public area of the hotel is very clean. We were able to get new towel easily from the staff as needed. The hotel looks very newly renovated. Cons: Amenities variety is lacking. The breakfast buffet has way less selections than advertised by the posters. Definitely overpriced at 2200 yen; I have had better at other hotels for 1000 yen. The sound insolation is poor, we could hear our neighbour showering and the sliding door at 2am. There's only ONE washer and dryer in this 9 floors hotel (nearby laundromat is 10 min walk). So because of the limited washer and dryer availability, I'll not consider this hotel again, as it's difficult for people who wanted to travel with less clothings.

From February 19th-26th, 2024 [7 nights in total], my wife and I, along with my mom and mother in law, the four of us stayed at the Oakwood Hotel in Kyoto. This is our first trip since the pandemic and my mom's first time in Kyoto so we were excited to say the least. After thorough comparison with other hotels near by, we chose the Oakwood for its sleek design, spacious bathroom/shower, central location and breakfast buffet.

清潔で綺麗なホテルで、街中にも歩いて行ける距離なので非常に行動しやすかったです! ホテルの朝食バイキングも良かったですが、近くにイートインできるパン屋さんが徒歩2分くらいのところにあるのでそこで食べるのも◎

You will feel right at home in this hotel. The frontdesk staff were all able to converse in english fluently and they were professional and helpful to help us with luggage forwarding and sorting us out for a room change. Thank you Goto-San for the kind assistance to offer us the room change. Hotel location is perfect with Nishiki Market and the busy shopping district all within minutes of walk. 7-11 and food options were all around the vicinity of the hotel too. I will highly recommend this hotel for someone looking for a quiet accomodation in Kyoto.
