"The staff were lovely and the food was great. We were upgraded to a superior room, which was wonderful and clean but the room was far too hot because it was next to the main working fireplace of the hotel. We had to have the window open the whole time to cool down, (but didn’t make too much difference in temperature) and then smoke from the chimney came into the room."

"Lovely place to stay. The lady who greeted was very friendly. Room was big and the bed was very comfortable. It took a while for room to heat up as I hadn’t realised all the thermostats were turned off. I had a bit of disturbed sleep as I stayed when it was very heavy rain/ windy so the windows were rattling (understandable as it’s an old building). I would recommend staying here as it’s very affordable. "

"Meeting up with lots of my relatives was great. Yes, the room was clean, but the kettle was not working for my early morning cup of tea (I didn't use it the previous evening)! The staff were efficient, sympathetic and friendly, but were unable to get a replacement kettle to me. Also, when I booked, I did say that I needed a gluten-free diet but the biscuits in the room were not gluten-free! I consider that the cost for one night's stay was expensive, being the full price for two people in a...

"5 stars goes to the staff at The Kings Head, they were all so kind, friendly and helpful. The food was also fab, good choices and the breakfast was great. "

"Winchelsea is a fascinating historic place. The ancient New Inn is a central part of it. For a night's stay it's fine: our room was comfortable enough and had a good view. Breakfast and supper offered average pub fare. What the New Inn really needs is fresh investment: the public areas are tired and e.g. our TV/ remote was worn out."

"I was disappointed with this stay. For the amount of money it cost, the caravan was not clean, was overcrowded and needs a lot of smarting up. You had to pay extra to have bedding which I think is unreasonable, particularly how much it cost per night anyway. Communication with the host was fine but not great. Unfortunately I won’t be recommending or returning to this property. "

"Our room did not have any heat; it was cold and I was ill. Someone tried to get the heater to work (unsuccessfully); they brought a space heater and extra blankets. The bathroom light was missing a bulb; loose tiles on the bathroom floor; we had to move our car from the lot before 8:30 am due to construction (on Saturday?). We needed to ask for a partial refund, but no one was available when we moved our car and left."
