We turned up to discover local environmental health wanting to inspect, the property was filthy, rude and abusive staff. Pictures on other reviews made us think stay clear. Needs to be shut down and removed.

We were directed to a new hotel, few streeets away, not what we had booked. No parking available at new hotel, had to park in street which was only ok as after 6.30pm & the next day was Sunday. Took £100 security deposit, told will take up to 14 days to return. Mouse/rat traps left visible in the bedroom. Wouldn't recommend.

Chambre vetuste malgré les efforts du personnel pour la rendre propre. Moisissure dans la chambre et la salle de bain. Moquette ou l on n ose pas marcher pieds nus. Nous sommes rentres un soir, un toxico etait rentre dans le hall et il se piquait le bras adosse a notre porte de chambre. Les deals se font d ailleurs au vu et su de tous dans la rue qui est clairement mal famée.

Reception with Bad Attitude (Black Girl)
I was greeted badly of their reception staff (black girl) because of my Google review. She couldn’t accept the review that I left her which I honestly experienced on the day I stayed on this hotel. But she repeated again in very bad way how she treated me, shouting at the reception. She really had bad attitude. She shouldn’t be working as reception giving bad image to the business establishment she work with. Highly not recommend this hotel to anyone if she’s working, Avoid as much as you can.

Do not book, save the hassle.
No rooms available at the house. You will be turned away after your booking has been processed and a £50 deposit is taken. The house stinks of damp. Nittys and prostitutes use this premises for their services. No parking what so ever is available. You will have to wake up 8am to move your vehicle as its permits only. You will be promised a refund but will never hear from the 'accounts' department. The department does not exist.

Der kommer jeg ikke igen!
Et hotel i forfald, revner og knubs i selve huset. En due havde lavet redde og skidt ene vinue til, mug på badeværelset og mangelfuld rengøring inden vi fik værelset. På ingen måde allergivenligt. Sengene var gamle bulede ukomfortable skabninger. Flinkt personale, men der blev simpelthen gjort for lidt for langsomt for at løse problemerne. TV i meget mystisk vinkel. Blev overrasket over at når køkkenet løb tør for fuldkornsbrød, var der bare ikke noget de sidste 3 dage af opholdet. Svarer ikke til et godt eller 3 stjernet hotel i min bog.

Rented this hotel to save some money, but regretted it after we got the room. The Wi-Fi doesn't work at all !! The room smelled so bad, probably the dirty carpet. The carpet needs to get removed or replaced. The beds are so old and so hard, the springs sticking out of the mattress. The bathroom is dilapidated and filled with spiders. The breakfast is bad, it needs more variation. The card key for the hotelroom we got didn't work half of the time, and it needed to be charged every time we got back to the hotel. Overall this hotel just needs a bigger renovation and improvements.

Good: - Amenities such as fridge, microwave, kettle, teas and coffees, TV - Inside of fridge clean - Inexpensive compared to average London rates - Free breakfast of good quality 👍 Bad: - Shower runs cold and is broken - Inside of microwave very tatty - Inconsistent cleaning job - Wi-fi does not work at all and 4G connection extremely bad - Negative experience with the receptionist staff upon arrival Ugly: - Room in a terrible state. Food(?) stains on ceilings, walls, light switch!!! - Dirty handles - Thick build-up of black mould around rim of shower from inconsistent cleansing - Cobwebs!! - Duvets and mattresses need to be replaced or better hidden I was prepared for wear and tear, but still expected a clean room and functioning shower! But I did not manage to get a single shower during my time spent here, and was very unsettled and underwhelmed. The thought of touching handles or opening the fridge/microwave door or turning the light switch on with my bare hands made me feel uncomfortable, because I didn't know what they had cleaned and what they had not. I would have preffered a clean and functional en-suite room with no amenities to what I was provided with. The least a hotel should be doing is cleaning room surfaces down thoroughly after each use! J'étais fidèle à cet hôtel depuis quasiment 10 ans, mais cette fois c'était la dernière fois et je n'y retournerai plus. Il a grand besoin d'une rénovation, car le mobilier et les chambres sont usés. Depuis 10 ans j'avais la même chambre, A1, qui est très bien pour un couple. Là à l'arrivée on m'a donné la D2... minuscule, adaptée pour une seule personne (ll n'y avait d'ailleurs qu'une seule serviette, la preuve que c'est une chambre pour une personne seule), mon mari et moi n'avions littéralement pas la place pour bouger. Et en plus la porte de la salle de bain était cassée. J'ai donc demandé à changer de chambre, on m'a donc redonné la A1 le lendemain, donc tant mieux, c'est déjà ça. Mais voilà il est temps pour moi d'aller ailleurs.

It was a very sketchy property that it felt more like a motel than a hotel but the very good pricing, very good breakfast and the staff was extremely friendly. The property needs a lot of updates but for the most part was clean.

Budget base for London visit
Check in was easy. Directed to the room. The room facilities were as expected.... Bed, TV,, kettle, toilet and shower... and also included fridge and microwave. A few issues with the room... Smoke alarm missing, toilet kept flushing and running by itself. These were rectified quite quickly after being reported. For the most part, the room was clean. There was black mould around the window and the grouting in the shower. The tiles were clean tho. Fresh towels and a quick clean daily. The breakfast included in the price was reasonable. Basic English breakfast buffet. Have to say, the staff were super throughout the stay.

All the staff were friendly and cooperative, it was easy to check in and check out, room was enough to accommodate a person for night, but bathroom was too small, it smelled very bad, and i believed it’s something to do with the drainage because bathroom was clean

Really good hotel , very friendly, staff go that extra mile to make you welcome , warm comfortable, clean hotel , good breakfast, just around the corner from good pubs restaurants, can't wait to be in the area to stay again ,

Rough & Ready but good Value for Money
This hotel is rough and ready but certainly value for money. A 20min walk from Ilford train station which then is a direct train into Central London. Generous breakfast and good quality. Showers are wet rooms rather than showers which leaves a bit to be desired. But the addition of microwaves to every room is a very nice touch for business travelling when you don't want to pay for dinner. If you're lucky you'll get a fridge too ! Very quiet and peaceful stay overall.

Hotel looks decent but the staff are rude, the room i was staying in had bed bugs and you will be asked to pay a £50 deposit that will never be returned. Overall terrible experience. There are plenty of hotels in the area, my advice pick any place other than this one.

Dear Guest, We are sadden to hear that your experience at Britannia wasn't up to your standard. I can see that you stayed with us for 6 days and during your time with us you was informed that we have 24 hours front desk available who are always happy to help our customers with any issues or questions. At no time during your stay did you mention anything to our front desk team that you encountered issues. This is unfair as you didn’t give our team the chance to help during your time with us. We have also mentioned to you regarding your deposit that it is a pre authorization which payments returns within 5-14 days automatically. We are deeply sadden as we wasn’t given a fair review due to not being informed as we had took it as you had a good stay with us as you stayed the full 6 nights without any complaints.
