"Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers"

"A very quirky, interesting, historical Hotel a short stroll from all the amenities that Swanage have to offer. Friendly helpful staff from start to finish, all very knowledgeable regarding the history of the hotel. It’s obviously like the forth bridge regarding the upkeep and maintenance, but that’s expected with an old building,it adds to its charm. All areas were clean and tidy. "Location excellent. Breakfast- reasonable Staff - good. Room - clean."

"The property was very run down . The facilities were badly looked after, if not non existent. The food was very average. The drinks were extremely overpriced. The hotel was much too expensive for what was on offer. We were expecting a spa hotel, and it definitely wasn’t. Very disappointed."

"The positives were the airy room and lovely garden. The big negative was the buffet breakfast which they proudly claim to be award-winning. The reality is that for a 4 star hotel, the quality and range of options was extremely poor. Too many short cuts and cost cutting. The veggie options were limitd and not displayed on the tables and there were no extras (eg crushed avocado) even if you were willing to pay a bit extra. There was no fruit yogurt in individual pots and no higher quality healthy...
