"The hotel was out in the countryside with excellent views over the moors. It was very clean and well cared for. Car parking was good. The room size, bed size, etc was great. One small problem - the room lighting was not very bright during the night time. The food was excellent and the staff were great. It was also a great place for walkers with great access to the countryside. I would recommend it."

The rooms are not large in size with a double bed. It's a simple, no-frills place with basic amenities, but it delivered exactly what we expected. "On arrival could have done with better signage as to where to park as we ended up parking at Forbidden Corner. Also not easy to find Reception and when we did find there was no-one there for 10 mins. Room nice, dressing gown and slippers nice touch. Had evening meal in the bar which was ok and staff were attentive. Meals on the Sunday finished at 5 and bar closed which was inconvenient. We were informed no staff on site again until Wed. We couldn’t boil kettle Mon morning as electric went off...

"Avoid a room above the bar because of the noise. I think it must get its 3 star rating from the rooms in the new areas. The food was very mediocre. For food I would recommend The Fox Hole which is around a 5 minute walk. The setting saved my stay because it was lovely to sit by the river. The staff were very nice."
