Pay attention to your booking. Picture may show a cabin but will be a hotel room. They need to do something about the moisture and the mildew smell. There was wrapper in the drawer so I know they don’t clean 100%. Bathroom had mold on ceiling. Was a decent stay though. Water park was fun for the kids and was convenient to the towns. They should spend some money on updates though. Also they need to pay attention to the stains on the sheets and maybe not use those ones. Biggest complaint is when I got home everything that was in the room stunk like mildew. I stayed in the “hotel” side.

Hot water non existent, could be called occasionally warm at best. No microwave. “Large TV” maybe 25”. Lighting very dim, that may have been a blessing. All this we were willing to endure until we tried to use jacuzzi the night before we checked out and there was no way to use it as the water was way too cold. Next morning no one at desk to let them know these issues and had to go to the clarion next door. Nothing they could do but have them call us. They eventually did and said it was our fault for not telling them earlier so they could try to fix it. Don’t know if this is a sample of the hotel quality at Mackinaw city but not taking any chances and just staying away from now on

We checked in to the honeymoon suite and we did not have hot water in the room for 2 hrs and pool and hot tub were just filled the day we arrived and it was middle of June so couldn't use other one for the 2 days we stayed and manager said he would make it right not never did

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The cabin exceeded our expectations in every way — it was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy time together. The waterpark was also a perfect fit for our trip and truly completed the experience. It was fun, well-maintained, and had something for everyone to enjoy. Having such a great waterpark along with such an incredible cabin made this getaway unforgettable. We had a fantastic time and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

Staff were friendly. The location was great. The water park was fantastic, although looking a little run down. The room was a bit dusty and dirty in corners. The exercise room (3 pieces of equipment total, no weights) was non-functional, with one extremely loud treadmill, a bike that didn’t work and a bike with no seat.

The first room we had smelled awful and the bed was lumpy, bathroom was really outdated and yellow. They let us change rooms easily and the new room was better, but still not great. The pool area smelled awful and my daughter opted not to swim. Location was very nice.

Pictures did not represent the cabin WE got. Pictures were of the new cabins but half the cabins are older and smaller cabins. They were clean but the pics should reflect the whole property not just the newer nice ones. Would not stay here again. Expensive for a 50s tiny cabin.

The rooms are so small the door wouldn’t open all the way in one bedroom and the other bedroom the are between wall and bed was narrower than my tennis shoe on both sides. The lamp flicked(not in a romantic way) because of exposed wires! The light did not work in the shower so it was dark! I did enjoy the price and outdoor hot tub and found the staff nice but wouldn’t recommend or go again.

The air conditioner in our room wasn’t working properly. The room itself was mediocre the night stand was a broken piece of furniture that wasn’t even at bed level ( it sat in the floor) all the rooms smelled like bug spray ( very strong smell) the staff looked miserable. Would recommend staying at the Bayside instead much nicer with better updates

The staff was very understanding when we had to leave a day early due to a medical emergency. Refunded our money. The chalet was clean and well maintained inside. Wood interior was beautiful. Roomy enough for two people. Only complaint was the very very very firm mattress and “flat” pillows. Hard to get comfortable. Close to ferries and downtown. Everything we needed was within walking distance.

BEWARE WHEN BOOKING-PHOTOS SHOWN DO NOT MATCH CABIN OPTIONS!! The photos shown on Expedia led me to believe I was booking a two bedroom FAMILY CABIN. As you will see photos show a beautiful cabin with spiral staircase that is newish and well maintained. What I was actually given was a two bedroom family chalet... Which was a very tiny shed like structure with two very tiny bedrooms. The manager onsite was very kind and understanding when I spoke to him about this. I felt terrible directing my anger toward him because according to him he has no control over how Expedia is advertising the cabins. I did believe him. He did offer to move us the next day into the actual cabin we booked at a "discounted" rate which was an additional $900 on top of the $1500 we had already paid. 7 nights in a tiny shed with 3 teenage boys, my husband, our dog and myself was challenging. The cabin was clean on the surface but would benefit from a thorough deep clean and was not well kept. The staff were friendly except one housekeeper and the manager was so kind. We are used to camping and are not high class people so we made it work but if you are looking for something nice BE CAREFUL. The indoor waterpark and game room located in the hotel onsite were run down and smelled of mold. The outdoor pool and hot tub were not turned on until the last day of our week long vacation so we only got to use it once but it was wonderful with the view of lake Huron. The location is great/close to ferry.

Very nice staff, pool and hot pool, perfect location and size of the cabin! The only thing is the cleanness- they should dust and wipe a little more. And the picnic area has only one table with bench, nothing more. I would expect couple of them and some kind of grill or fire pit, but nothing there. Other than that: great

We encountered a highly unsatisfactory experience during our recent stay. The evening prior to our scheduled arrival, we received a call informing us of electrical issues with our reserved cabin, necessitating an additional charge of $500 beyond our confirmed booking. While an upgrade was promised, the accommodation provided upon arrival was identical to our original reservation, leading us to believe the additional charge was an arbitrary price adjustment. Upon entering the premises, we observed a dried contact lens on a nightstand, several drawers in disrepair, and a non-functional porch light. The beds were uncomfortably firm, significantly impacting our ability to sleep. Furthermore, the pull-out sofa was broken, causing it to collapse during use. Our attempts to address these concerns were met with indifference. We were also informed at the time of booking that a stove would be available, which was not the case. We have previously enjoyed the hospitality of other establishments in Mackinaw, and this experience at the Cabins of Mackinaw was, by far, the most disappointing. We will not be returning to this establishment.

The photos are deceiving. It looks like a well maintained hotel however, it is an old motel with alot of outside, outdated stairs that the wood was split on the treads, railings we shaky and it was difficult to get luggage up to the room. When I got there the TV didn't work, they told me that they thought all of the TV's had been switched out and the RCA TV's didn't work with the new cable they had, they didn't have cable, they had Antenna TV. We had 15 stations and at least 5 were Spanish TV we couldn't understand. Had to switch between PBS, ION and ME TV, the one movie channel was in Spanish. Next morning I wake up and the coffee machine doesn't work, get back to the hotel after sightseeing and the fridge had shut off, went to microwave some leftovers and No microwave. We stayed from Saturday until Wednesday at no time did housekeeping ever come to take the trash, bring clean towels or make the beds. Will never recommend this hotel or stay there again!

We had a great trip. We stayed 1 week. The cleaning crew was less than helpful! We had to bring our towels to the front desk people to exchange them for clean ones and turn in the dirty ones. The front desk lady was very helpful. We found a large bag of dog food behind the fridge. The fridge was TINY! Smaller than a college fridge. Garbage was not collected which would have been super helpful. They had weird pool hours. Otherwise we had a good time. Housekeeping was really our only complaint.
