First question I was asked was not 'How are you?' or 'How was your journey?' but 'Would you like an upgrade?' I can see why - I'm fine with windowless rooms for 1 or 2 nights on a budget, but this one was a furnace. They knew about it because they'd put a fan on, but all this did was to circulate warm air round the room. Impossible to sleep. After I complained, they did (bless them) put me in a room with a window which was cooler, but as the air conditioning didn't work, if the windows were left open, the noise from the street kept one awake late and woke one up early. Rubbish on the balcony. No towel change or replacement of milk or coffee - and certainly no one came in to do the room on the second day. 'Oh, we don't clean every day - only every two days'. Not something they advertise, but costcutting is clearly the overriding principle here - not guests. I'm grateful for them sorting out the hot room situation, but would not stay here again if I can help it.
