The Peacock at Rowsley
10/10 Excellent
"A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The building is beautiful, staff were great and the food was absolutely delicious"

The Family Tree
10/10 Excellent
"Room was lovely & cozy with great en-suite. Plenty of tea & coffee etc which was refilled every day. Snacks & a mini bar also. Staff were really friendly & helpful. Excellent breakfast included. Definitely recommend The Family Tree."

High Tor Hotel
8/10 Good
"The staff were very friendly and allowed a slightly early check in for no extra cost. The breakfast was good value and tasty"

Sheriff Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"We had a very enjoyable two-night stay at Sheriff Lodge. The owner accommodated our early check in, which was very kind of her. Throughout our stay we had good conversations with the owner, who was a lively lady. Room was nicely decorated. The bed very comfortable and the room/bathroom exceptionally clean. Breakfasts were freshly cooked to perfection, with a wide choice. Location was ideal for the town, albeit the walk back up the hill took us longer than the walk down :) Most definitely we will be going back, next time we visit Matlock and the beautiful surroundings."

Oakhill
8/10 Good
"Old property in beautiful surroundings. Very nicely appointed rooms. We stayed in the Derwent Suite with lovely views of the gardens/fields. No drapes at the windows, just interior shutters on the original sash windows. Some light spill through the shutters on the morning that did not bother us but may be an issue to those who prefer blackout drapes. Breakfast very nice with good choice. We dined in the restaurant one evening - also good choice of food with large portions and reasonably priced. The downside of the Derwent suite - and this may also be a issue with some of the other rooms in this property - was the constant squeaking of the old metal bedstead. Whilst the mattress was comfortable, the bedstead squeaked and groaned loudly at the slightest movement and tended to keep us awake for ages. The water in the bath/shower was lovely and hot on a morning and evening, but when we wanted a shower mid/late afternoon after a morning rambling, the water was lukewarm. We would probably try this hotel again with a different room but if the bed situation remains the same we would avoid again."

Hodgkinson's Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"A big 'thank you ' to Donna, Chris and Beth for a lovely 4 night stay. Excellent hosts. Quirky venue with loads of charm. Parking onsite. Spotlessly clean. Bed and pillows extremely comfy. Excellent breakfast that kept us going all day. Perfect location for exploring the area. Can highly recommend."

Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent staff lovely place will recommend to everyone"

Duke of Wellington
6/10 Okay
"Good location, good price. Looks lovely from outside. However, inside, carpets needs cleaning as our feet were sticking to it. Kids room light was flickering, twice approached different members of staff but nothing was done. Not enough mugs in the room (only 2 in a family room)."

The Beeley Inn
10/10 Excellent
"My wife & I stayed at the Beeley Inn last night, everything about the stay was really good from the check in, the outdoor drinking areas, the dinner and the breakfast. The room was not massive but it was absolutely fine. The staff were always very friendly and polite. Definitely worth another trip. The breakfast was superb."
